cannabis and working out

Cannabis and working out — can a daily stoner actually get fit? I’m back with a real update after two months of consistent training, and the short answer is: yes, absolutely. I’m Fordee from Herbistry420, and this is my ongoing Canna-Do-It? fitness journey. Back in April I asked whether you could lose weight while smoking cannabis. Now I’ve got real results to share — muscle gains, some weight loss, and one stubborn obstacle standing in my way.

Where I Started: Cannabis and Working Out in April

In my first video I laid out the honest question: can a daily cannabis user actually commit to a fitness routine and see results? At the time I had slipped — drank a week later and stopped working out entirely. That was the reset. Starting fresh meant building real habits around weed and exercise motivation, not just good intentions.

5 Real Changes After 2 Months of Cannabis Fitness Training

  1. Working out 5-6 days per week consistently — The biggest shift. Making the gym a non-negotiable part of my canna fitness lifestyle changed everything. Cannabis actually helps me get into a focused, motivated headspace before sessions.
  2. Quit drinking (mostly) — I stopped drinking except for one vacation week where I went a bit overboard. Cutting alcohol has made a massive difference in recovery time and energy levels.
  3. Visible muscle gains — You can see it in the video. My arms, shoulders, and chest are noticeably more defined after two months of working out high cannabis-fueled sessions.
  4. Started losing weight — The scale is moving in the right direction. Slowly, but moving. Combining cannabis, cardio, and strength training is working.
  5. Eating cleaner (mostly) — I’ve upped my vegetable intake and eat relatively healthy when I’m not caving to the munchies. The munchies are still my biggest enemy, but I’m improving.

The Munchies Problem: My #1 Obstacle

Let me be real — cannabis and working out is a great combination, but the munchies are a serious challenge for weight loss goals. I still eat whatever I want too often, and I cave into sweets more than I should. If I could eliminate the munchies snacking and cut out sweets, my progress would be dramatically more impressive. I work out hard — that is not the problem. The eating is the piece I need to dial in next.

My approach going forward on this stoner fitness routine is not to go on a strict diet, but to keep slowly improving eating habits. Small sustainable changes beat dramatic overhauls every time. Less munchies snacking. More vegetables. Same hard workouts.

Does Cannabis Help or Hurt Your Workout?

From my personal experience with cannabis fitness update progress, here is the honest breakdown:

  • Helps: Focus, motivation to go to the gym, pain relief during recovery, better sleep, reduced alcohol consumption.
  • Hurts: The munchies can destroy your caloric deficit. Timing matters — smoking right before heavy cardio can reduce performance for some people.
  • Neutral: Strength gains seem unaffected. Muscle building while using cannabis daily is absolutely achievable.

What’s Next for My Canna-Do-It Fitness Journey?

My next goal is to add a new element to my workout routine — more variety, more challenge. I am also going to keep slowly improving the diet side. I am not trying to be perfect, I am trying to be consistent. That is what weed and exercise motivation looks like in practice: showing up, doing the work, and being honest about what is working and what is not.

FAQ: Cannabis and Working Out

Can you lose weight while smoking cannabis daily?

Yes, based on my experience with cannabis and working out every day. The key factors are workout consistency, managing the munchies, and reducing alcohol. Cannabis alone will not make you lose weight, but it does not stop you from losing weight when combined with smart habits.

Does smoking weed before a workout help?

For me personally, working out high cannabis sessions feel more focused and enjoyable. I find I am more in the zone and the workout flies by. Everyone’s experience differs — start with lower intensity sessions to see how your body responds.

What is the biggest challenge for stoners trying to get fit?

The munchies, without question. A stoner fitness routine lives and dies by what you eat after your session. Building awareness around when the munchies hit and having healthier snack options ready is essential.

How long until you see results working out as a daily cannabis user?

In my cannabis fitness update after two months of 5-6 day/week training, I had visible muscle gains and was starting to lose weight. Realistic timeline: 6-8 weeks before visible changes if you are training hard and eating reasonably.
