turn mighty into a volcano

Can you turn Mighty into a Volcano? Technically yes — and Fordee does it live on camera. The setup uses a Storz & Bickel Mighty+ connected to a rubber whip adapter and a battery-powered electronic vacuum pipe. The vacuum pipe’s fan draws vapor through the tube and pushes it out the end, converting the Mighty from a handheld vaporizer into something closer to a desktop whip system. It works. Whether you should do it depends on what gear you already own.

What This Mighty Hack Actually Does

A real Volcano stores vapor in a balloon — this setup doesn’t do that. What it does is attach the Mighty to a fan-driven vacuum pipe via a whip adapter, so the vacuum pipe’s motor draws vapor through the tube instead of you pulling manually. The result is a continuous, forced-air flow similar to how a Volcano bag fills. It’s what Fordee calls “the Lazy Man’s Volcano” — and the name is accurate.

Turn Mighty Into a Volcano: 5 Easy Steps

Step 1: Get the Parts

You need three things to turn Mighty into a Volcano setup:

  • Storz & Bickel Mighty or Mighty+ — the vaporizer itself
  • L-shaped whip adapter with rubber tubing — slides over the Mighty’s mouthpiece
  • Electronic vacuum pipe — a battery-powered device with a fan that draws from wherever you connect it

Fordee originally made the whip adapter for a different project (an epic hash session with a hash kettle and bong) and repurposed it here. If you have a different vaporizer with a water pipe adapter (WPA), you could skip the whip and connect directly via WPA instead.

Step 2: Load the Mighty

Pack the Mighty as usual. Fordee recommends the AirVape Legacy loading tool, which also fits the Mighty’s chamber. Put the chamber piece down and close the mouthpiece. Use the kickstand to prop it up while you connect the adapter — you’ll need both hands free for the next step.

Step 3: Connect the Whip to the Mouthpiece

Open the Mighty’s mouthpiece and slide the rubber tubing over it. The L-shaped adapter sits between the rubber tubing and the vacuum pipe’s intake. Make sure the connection is snug — any air leaks will reduce the draw efficiency. If you’ve cut the tubing for a previous project (as Fordee had), it may be a slightly loose fit, but it’ll work.

Step 4: Power On and Set Temperature

Press the Mighty’s power button on the side to start heating. Fordee starts at 385°F and bumps up to 390°F to compensate for the vacuum pipe’s modest fan draw. Because the fan isn’t pulling as hard as a human breath, a slightly higher temp helps generate more vapor density. Wait for the Mighty to beep at temperature, then give it a few extra seconds.

Step 5: Activate the Vacuum Pipe and Hit

Press the button on the electronic vacuum pipe to start the fan. It will draw vapor from the Mighty through the tubing and push it out the end. You’ll see a steady stream of visible vapor at 390°F+. Put the output end to your mouth and inhale — the vapor comes to you. You can also take the hose off and hit the Mighty directly, which Fordee confirms produces noticeably larger hits due to harder draw pressure.

Does It Work? Fordee’s Honest Take

When you turn Mighty into a Volcano-style setup this way, it works — but with caveats. The vacuum pipe’s fan isn’t strong enough to match the draw force of a human breath, so you won’t get as dense a hit as pulling directly from the Mighty. However, it does produce visible vapor and Fordee confirms he was “definitely stoned” after take two (he was already stoned after take one). The setup also has a practical benefit: no one has to put their mouth on the Mighty’s mouthpiece, since the vacuum pipe blows air out rather than requiring a direct mouth connection.

Fordee’s verdict: do it if you already have the vacuum pipe and whip adapter sitting around doing nothing. Don’t order these parts specifically for this purpose. If you want bigger hits, hit the Mighty directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you turn Mighty into a Volcano without a vacuum pipe?

Not in the same way. The vacuum pipe is what provides the fan-driven forced air that makes this setup work. Without it, you’d just have a whip adapter attached to the Mighty — which is useful for connecting to a bong or water pipe, but doesn’t give you the hands-free automatic draw that turns Mighty into a Volcano-style experience.

What temperature should you use to turn Mighty into a Volcano setup?

Start at 385°F and bump to 390°F if visible vapor is limited. Because the vacuum pipe fan draws less forcefully than a direct pull, running slightly higher than your usual herb temperature helps compensate. The Mighty+ can go higher if needed — experiment based on your herb and personal preference.

Does this work with vaporizers other than the Mighty?

Yes — any vaporizer with a water pipe adapter (WPA) can be connected to the vacuum pipe directly via WPA, skipping the rubber tubing and L-adapter entirely. The Mighty requires the whip adapter because of its mouthpiece design, but most other vapes with a standard WPA fitting will connect more cleanly.
