This weed lollipops recipe from Fordee at Herbistry420 is one of the most incognito ways to enjoy cannabis edibles. Weed lollies look just like store-bought hard candy, they’re easy to make, and you can flavor them however you like. The secret is reaching the right hard crack temperature and timing when to add your tincture. Follow these 5 easy steps and you’ll have a perfect weed lollipops recipe every time.
What Makes This a Great Cannabis Hard Candy Lollipop Recipe?
This cannabis hard candy lollipop recipe uses green dragon tincture — cannabis alcohol extract — instead of cannabutter or cannabis oil. Because the sugar mixture has to reach 300°F (150°C), adding a fat-based infusion at that stage would break down the THC. Tincture is added after the candy cools to 250°F, preserving the cannabinoids while achieving a clean, professional hard candy finish.
Ingredients for This Weed Lollipops Recipe
Here is everything you need to make weed lollies using this recipe. Makes approximately 6–8 lollipops depending on your weed lollipop molds.
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- ¼ cup filtered water (bottled, not tap)
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- 2–3 tablespoons green dragon tincture (cannabis tincture)
- ~35 drops concentrated food flavoring (raspberry, cherry, or your choice)
- Food coloring (a few drops — any colour)
- Small amount of butter (for greasing the pan sides)
- Candy thermometer
- Lollipop molds and sticks
How to Make This Weed Lollipops Recipe in 5 Steps
Step 1: Grease the Pan and Combine Ingredients
Use your fingers to lightly grease the sides of a non-stick saucepan with regular butter — do NOT use cannabutter here as the candy will get far too hot for it. Add the sugar, filtered water, and corn syrup to the pan. Heat on medium-high, whisking to dissolve the sugar. Add your food coloring at this stage — it incorporates easily while the mixture is still liquid.
Step 2: Reach the Weed Lollies Hard Crack Temperature
This is the most critical step. Attach your candy thermometer and heat the mixture without stirring until it reaches 300°F (150°C) — the weed lollies hard crack temperature. At this stage the candy will solidify into a brittle, glass-like hard candy when it cools. Do not rush — this typically takes 15 to 20 minutes and the temperature climbs slowly at first. As soon as you hit 300°F, remove the pan from heat immediately and turn off the burner.
Step 3: Cool to 250°F and Add Tincture
After removing from heat, watch the thermometer and wait for the temperature to drop to 250°F (121°C). At this point, add your flavoring drops first (about 35 drops of concentrated raspberry or cherry flavoring), then pour in 2 to 3 tablespoons of cannabis tincture lollipops-ready green dragon. Stir vigorously — some of the alcohol will boil off (normal), and the mixture will bubble briefly. Keep stirring until everything is fully homogenized.
Why wait until 250°F? Adding tincture at 300°F would burn off too much THC along with the alcohol. At 250°F you preserve far more cannabinoids while still having a workable candy mixture.
Step 4: Fill the Weed Lollipop Molds
Work quickly once the tincture is incorporated — the candy hardens fast. Have your weed lollipop molds and sticks already positioned before you start pouring. Use a spoon to carefully fill each mold cavity. If the mixture starts to harden in the pan before you’re done, briefly return it to low heat to restore workability, then continue pouring. It’s okay if some candy spills outside the molds — it breaks off cleanly once solid.
Step 5: Refrigerate and Unmold
Place the filled weed lollipop molds in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours, closer to 2 hours for best results. The lollipops will pop out of the molds cleanly once fully set. Wrap individually in clear cellophane for storage. Fordee stores his in the freezer — they last longer and stay firm in warm weather. Each lollipop is approximately 30mg THC depending on your tincture potency.
Tips for Perfect Cannabis Tincture Lollipops
- Calibrate your thermometer first — even a few degrees off can mean soft, bendy candy instead of hard crack. See the Herbistry420 candy thermometer calibration guide.
- Use filtered water — tap water minerals can affect the boiling point and final candy texture.
- Add more flavoring — if you can taste the cannabis too strongly, increase your concentrated flavoring. ~35 drops gives a noticeable flavour; 50+ drops will mask most cannabis taste.
- Work fast when pouring — hard candy mixtures cool quickly. Have your weed lollipop molds staged and ready before adding tincture.
- Store in the freezer — cannabis tincture lollipops last longer frozen. They won’t melt or stick together and are easy to grab whenever you want one.
Dosage Notes for This Weed Lollipops Recipe
Fordee’s lollipops were approximately 30mg THC each using 3 tablespoons of his green dragon tincture across 6 lollipops. Your dose will depend on your tincture’s potency. If you’re new to edibles, start with a half lollipop and wait 2 hours before taking more. Keep weed lollies away from children and pets — they look like regular candy.
